Mallards' CHL Anniversary Jersey Auction Friday

January 11, 2012 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. (January 11, 2012) - The Quad City Mallards will help raise funds for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley and for the Central Hockey League Player Assistance Fund by wearing special edition Central Hockey League twentieth anniversary jerseys during their home game this Friday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Dayton Gems.

The twentieth anniversary jerseys will go up for bid during Friday evening's game via a silent auction. The Mallards' auction is one of series of twentieth anniversary jersey auctions being held throughout the CHL this season. Auctions benefit both the CHL Player Assistance Fund and the Hoffen Foundation, which, in turn, donates proceeds to youth-oriented charities in each CHL market- in the Mallards' case, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley.

"We're happy to be able to celebrate the CHL's twentieth anniversary by giving back to both the player assistance fund and, in the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley, an organization that does so much for the youth in our area," said Mallards executive vice president Ryan Simmons.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley offer a host of services to school age children in the Quad Cities area in order to help enable young people, especially those most in need, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

"The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley greatly appreciates the generosity shown towards our club members by the Mallards through this jersey auction donation," said Boys & Girls Clubs of the Mississippi Valley director of development Dean Bacon. "We provide after-school programming to more than 1,200 underprivileged youth in the Quad Cities annually at our Davenport and Moline Club sites and are grateful for the vital operating support this donation will provide."

The Mallards' special edition jerseys feature both the CHL's twentieth anniversary logo and the Mallards' logo and bear the league's colors- blue, white and silver. The silent auction will run through the end of the second intermission of Friday night's game.

The CHL Player Assistance Fund benefits current and former CHL players and families of players experiencing hardship. The mission of the Hoffen Foundation is to assist children with differing diseases, disabilities and socioeconomic challenges by raising money to enhance the ability of existing organizations to provide new programs and ongoing assistance.
