Quad City Mallards News Release
Moline, IL-The Quad City Mallards today announced that the team was part of the nation's third largest phone card for troops drive during the 2006 holiday season. In celebration of the accomplishment, Christine Nitz of Vision Crest Consulting, L.L.C. will drop the opening puck on Saturday night when the team hosts the Flint Generals.
Nitz spearheaded the phone card drive in the Quad Cities. The Mallards teamed up with local businesses and the general population, offering special ticket discounts for those contributing to the cause; which resulted in nearly 100,000 minutes worth of phone cards for troops during the 2006 holiday season. Nitz' phone card drive ranked as the third highest total amongst participating areas in the United States.
"I am very proud of the Quad Cities and their contributions to our service members and their families," said Nitz. Added Mallards President Tim Taylor, "Without Christine's vision and the tremendous support of the citizens of the Quad Cities, this wonderful donation would not have been possible."
Nitz' ceremonial puck drop will be accompanied by a thank you note from the father of an injured soldier. The ceremonies will precede the Mallards 7:00 p.m. face off vs. the Flint Generals. Saturday is Illinois Quad City Chamber Night as members of the organization are invited to The MARK for just $10. Sunday afternoon, the Mallards host their annual Merchandise Sale as they take on the Bloomington PrairieThunder. Game time is 3:00 p.m. After the game, the Mallards will skate with fans at The MARK and also host a post-game party at Old Chicago in Bettendorf. Individual tickets for all Mallards home games are available at The MARK box office, via phone at (563) 326-1111 or on-line at ticketmaster.com.
