November 8, 2017 - ECHL (ECHL)
Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. (November 7, 2017) - The Quad City Mallards have acquired goaltender Branden Komm from the Idaho Steelheads in exchange for financial considerations, the Mallards announced today.
Komm, 26, has gone 0-2-0 with a 3.18 goals against average and a .881 save percentage in four games with Idaho this season. The 6-foot-1, 181-pound Williamsville, New York native last season finished tied for sixth in the ECHL in save percentage (.917) and shutouts (3) and finished tenth in goals against average (2.69) while going 19-13-0 in 36 games with the Steelheads.
Komm has gone 33-31-9 with a 2.79 goals against average, a .902 save percentage and four shutouts over four professional seasons. Komm first arrived in Idaho midway through the 2015-16 season after starting that campaign with the South Carolina Stingrays. He broke into pro hockey in 2014-15 with the Evansville IceMen and also played briefly for the Cincinnati Cyclones as a rookie.
Komm played four years at Bentley University before turning pro and was a workhorse number one netminder each of his final three collegiate seasons. He went 47-50-13 while turning in a 2.67 goals against average, a .919 save percentage and five shutouts in 115 career collegiate games. Komm was named to the All-Atlantic Hockey Second Team after going 19-12-4 with a 2.46 goals against average, a .923 save percentage and one shutout as a senior. Komm's senior season save percentage matched a school record he originally set- along with a host of others- as a sophomore. Komm made the All-Atlantic Hockey Third Team after setting Bentley single season records for goals against average (2.41), saves (1,080), minutes played (2,237) and games played (38) as well as save percentage in 2011-12.
