Majors Taken Down by the 67's

Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release


Ottawa, ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors kicked off their three-game weekend on Halloween night, as they went on the road to battle the Ottawa 67's. Unfortunately, the Majors were outshot 38-24 throughout the game, and were forced to swallow a tough 6-2 loss. As a result, the Majors record shifts to 7-6-0-0 on the season.

Ottawa's Cody Lindsay opened up the scoring 1:38 into the 1st period with help from Jon Carnevale and Derek Hartwick. Then, Thomas Kiriakou connected at 2:59 (power-play) off of passes from Corey Cowick and Thomas Nesbitt, to make it 2-0 for the home squad heading into intermission.

Corey Bureau replied for Mississauga in the 2nd period at 12:27, with assists coming from Blake Parlett and Jordan Mayer, to get the visitors on the board. However, Stephen Blunden and Carnevale each collected a goal, at 14:47 and then at 17:16 respectively, to put Ottawa up 4-1. The assists went to Lindsay, Hartwick and Ryan Martindale.

In the 3rd period, the 67's were up 5-1, as Martin Paryzek scored at 2:19 (power-play) with help from Sean Ryan and Logan Couture. But Mississauga's Josh McFadden answered back at 10:52, off of a pass from Jared Gomes. Unfortunately, Paryzek got the final goal of the night, with the lone assist coming from Kiriakou, at 16:40 to put the game away.

Chris Carrozzi got the start between the pipes for the Majors and blocked 32 shots, while Chris Perugini made 22 saves for the 67's. Mississauga went 0 for 1 on the power-play, while Ottawa finished 2 for 8 on the night. The game's three stars were Lindsay (1st), Carnevale (2nd) and Kiriakou (3rd).

The Majors will return home tomorrow afternoon to host the Guelph Storm at 4 p.m., and the Belleville Bulls on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
