Majors Shut Down the Wolves

Sudbury, ON - The Mississauga St. Michael's Majors earned a well-deserved victory on the road this evening as they heavily outshot the Sudbury Wolves and collected goals in each period to grab a 3-1 win. The victory is the Majors fifth away from home this season, helping their overall record improve to 15-13-1-0 on the year.

Majors captain Jesse Messier got some revenge on his old team when he collected a power-play goal at 17:41 of the 1st period off of Mike Pelech and Tim Billingsley feeds. The Majors outshot the Wolves 10-6 in the frame.

Then, Anthony Tapper scored at 8:30 of the 2nd period, with the support coming from Justin Larson and Brett Flemming, to put Mississauga up 2-0. This time, the Majors outshot the Wolves 16-9 in the period.

In the final stanza, Sudbury's Matt Dias grabbed an unassisted goal at 17:51 to cut the lead in half and end the shutout bid. However, Matt Piva replied with an empty-net tally for the Majors at 19:33, off of Kris Sparre and Matt Caria passes, to secure the win for Mississauga.

The Majors ended up outshooting the Wolves 39-23 with Chris Carrozzi and Sebastian Dahm taking care of the netminding duties for Mississauga and Sudbury, respectively. The Majors power-play was 1 for 7 while Sudbury went 0 for 6. The game's three stars were Messier (1st), Tapper (2nd) and Sudbury's Patrik Lusnak (3rd).

The Majors conclude their road trip with a battle against the IceDogs in St. Catharines on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Then, they return home to host the Owen Sound Attack on Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.
