April 13, 2011 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release

Sudbury, ON - The Majors were in Sudbury this evening looking for a sweep of the Wolves. While Sudbury led 3-0 with less then ten minutes remaining in the game, the Majors would not accept the loss. With an impressive comeback, the Majors left Sudbury with a 4-3 overtime victory and a series sweep.

The two teams skated to a scoreless tie in the first period. Much of the action was similar to past games in this series. Alain Valiquette was strong in net for Sudbury, stopping all 15 shots he faced. The Wolves didn't keep JP Anderson quite as busy as he only had to make three saves to keep Sudbury off the board.

In the second period the Wolves took the lead. Eric O'Dell continued to be the Wolves go to goal scorer as he scored his seventh of the playoffs at 7:38, assisted by Marcus Foligno. O'Dell was attempting to make a pass across the crease until the puck hit off Stuart Percy's skate and found the back of the net. The second goal came from Foligno and O'Dell again. At 16:43, Foligno scored a powerplay goal with O'Dell and Josh McFadden getting the assists to stretch the lead to 2-0. Shots on goal were 9-6 in the second period in favour of the Wolves.

At 8:41 in the third period, the Wolves added to their lead. Frank Corrado went top shelf on Anderson to make it 3-0 Sudbury and with just over ten minutes left, it looked like game five this Friday night in Mississauga was all but certain. The Majors came back strong though. Rob Flick started the comeback at 10:47, with the Majors first goal of the game. Maxim Kitsyn and Chris DeSousa had the assists. Captain Casey Cizikas had the next Majors goal when he banged in a rebound at 14:45 to pull the double blue within one. The Wolves took a couple of penalties late to give the Majors a two man advantage. While Mississauga couldn't score during the five on three, they did take advantage of the five on four at 18:09. It was Devante Smith-Pelly scoring the game tying goal with Marc Cantin and Cizikas getting the assists. That was it for regulation time as neither team scored again, sending the game into overtime. The Majors outshot the Wolves 18-8 in the third period.

The Majors completed the comeback in overtime. With the puck in front of the Sudbury net, Riley Brace threw it at Valiquette. Derek Schoenmakers was right there to bang in the rebound and give the Majors a 4-3 win, and a 4-0 series sweep on the first shot of overtime.

JP Anderson recorded his eighth consecutive playoff victory with 20 saves on 23 shots. Alain Valiquette made 24 saves on 28 shots in a losing effort for the Wolves. The games three stars were Smith-Pelly (3rd), Cizikas (2nd) and Foligno (1st).

The Majors will now have to wait to find out who their Eastern Conference Championship opponent is. The Niagara IceDogs took a 3-1 series lead on Oshawa tonight and the Majors will face the winner of that series, beginning next week.
