Maine's Magnum Rolle Signs with Atlanta

NEW YORK, April 11, 2011 ‚¬" The Atlanta Hawks signed forward Magnum Rolle of the Maine Red Claws for the remainder of the season for the 25th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2010-11 NBA Development League season. Rolle ‚¬â„¢s call-up, his first, increases the number of current NBA players with NBA D-League experience, including players currently on assignment to their NBA D-League affiliates, to 100.

Rolle (6-11, 225), the third overall pick in the 2010 NBA D-League Draft, appeared in 15 games (seven starts) with Maine this season, averaging 14.1 points and 5.5 rebounds in 25.9 minutes. After missing much of the season due to injury, Rolle rejoined the Red Claws in early March, and averaged 19.0 points and 6.8 rebounds in his final five games, shooting 59.4 percent (41-69).

A native of the Bahamas, Rolle was selected by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the second round (51st overall) of the 2010 NBA Draft, and was then traded to the Indiana Pacers. With Indiana ‚¬â„¢s 2010 NBA Summer League team, Rolle averaged 13.4 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in five games.

Rolle played his first two collegiate seasons at LSU, and was a member of the Tigers ‚¬â„¢ 2006 NCAA Final Four team. He then transferred to Louisiana Tech, and was a Western Athletic Conference All-Defensive Team selection in his junior and senior seasons. Rolle was also named to the All-WAC Second Team as a senior, averaging 13.9 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.1 blocks.
