Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

Team Notes

Last week, Lewiston upended the Eastern Division leading Halifax Mooseheads 6-1 taking a much needed 2 points from their division rivals. On Friday December 7, the MAINEiacs took on the Quebec Remparts. The Remparts took an early 2-0 lead and never relinquished it. Quebec won the match 4-1.

On Satuday, December 8, team philanthropist Danick Paquette, along with his parents, surprised over 100 kids and staff members at the Boys and Girls Club in Auburn with a meal and presents. Members of the MAINEiacs front office, the Paquette family, Kollide, and even Santa Clause showed up for the event. Paquette signed autographs, took pictures with the kids and staff, and even played a little foosball.

This week the MAINEiacs play both games of the season series against the Rimouski Oceanic on December 11th and 14th. Former MAINEiacs head coach Clement Jodoin will not be on hand for either of the two games. Jodoin will be an assistant coach for MAINEiacs Jonathan Bernier and Kevin Marshall when they play for Team Canada in the World Junior Hockey Championship.

Last year, the MAINEiacs and Oceanic split the season series at one game a piece, each team winning at home and with a three game cushion. Of those remaining from the 2006-2007 squad, Stefan Chaput led the MAINEiacs with 1 goal and 3 assists, team captain Marc-Andre Daneau had 3 goals, and Kevin Marshall had 2 assists versus the Oceanic last year.

On Sunday, December 16, the MAINEiacs open up the season series against the Victoriaville Tigres on the road. Last year the MAINEiacs won both games against the Tigres. Defenseman Kevin Marshall and forward Stefano Giliati will need to lead the way against the Tigres this year due to the fact that they are the only ones who registered points in the teams' two matches last year. Jonathan Bernier played all 120 minutes of last years series, but will not be on hand for this game due to the World Juniors. Peter Delmas will most likely be in goal for the MAINEiacs with Kirk Rafuse on stand by.
