
Lafrance and Gélinas win TELUS player of the week awards

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, December 10, 2007 - Victoriaville Tigres forward Toby Lafrance and PEI Rocket goaltender Marc-Antoine Gélinas today were named the TELUS offensive and defensive players of the week for the period extending from December 3 to 9.
In three games, Lafrance registered five goals, including a game-winner, and added five assists. The Victoriaville forward had a hand in ten of the team's seventeen goals over the three-game span (59%). Lafrance enjoyed his best game of the week yesterday, scoring one goal and adding three assists in a 9-3 win over the Shawinigan Cataractes. At the conclusion of the contest, he was named the game's first star. He is third in the scoring race with a total of 52 points.
Francis Paré (4-3-7) of Chicoutimi as well as Maxime Lacroix (5-2-7) and Maxime Sauvé (1-6-7) of Quebec were also considered.
The defensive player of the week award goes to PEI Rocket backstop Marc-Antoine Gélinas. In three starts, Gélinas collected three wins while posting a 2.00 goals-against-average and .943 save percentage as he faced an average of 35 shots per contest. He played his best game of the week yesterday, versus the Saguenéens, making 38 stops in a 4-2 win and collecting first star honours. The Rocket is in the midst of a five-game winning streak at the Charlottetown Civic Centre.
Defensemen Drew Paris (2-3-5; +1) of Drummondville, Jason Demers (0-5-5; +2) of Victoriaville and Samuel Groulx (1-3-4; +5) of Quebec were also considered.
