Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release
The Lewiston MAINEiacs picked up a 4-3 shootout win over the Drummondville Voltigeurs Sunday afternoon at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. Zach Shannon sealed the win for Lewiston in the sixth-round of the overtime shootout.
Drummondville struck first thirty-seven seconds into the game, on a goal by Ryan McKiernan. Lewiston's Stefan Fournier tied the game on the power play at 4:55 of the second period
Drummondville took a 2-1 lead later in the period, but the lead would be short lived. Sebastian Trudeau knocked in a rebound to tie the game at two. The see-saw battle continued, when Sean Couturier scored late in the second, giving the Volts a 3-2 lead at the intermission.
Lewiston countered for the third time in the game, at 10:49 of the third period. Stefan Fournier tallied his second goal of the afternoon to tie the game at three goals apiece. The MAINEiacs penalty kill would do its job in the closing minutes of regulation to force the overtime shootout. Alexis Piette and Zach Shannon scored in the shootout to give Lewiston the 4-3 win.
Lewiston will play its next game at Shawinigan on Friday. The two teams will meet again Sunday, August 30, at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee. Faceoff time is set for 4:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the Colisee box office, or by calling (207) 783-2009.
