Maginnis Stops 37 as Outlaws Fall to Alpena
September 22, 2007 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
North Iowa Outlaws News Release
In his first game in the North Iowa Outlaws uniform, Austin Maginnis turned aside 37 of 40 shots he faced as the Alpena Ice Diggers handed the Outlaws their first loss in regulation this season. North Iowa scored both a power play and shorthanded goal but it wasn't enough to knock off the Digger who skated to a 3-2 win.
North Iowa's Tyler Romasco gave North Iowa a 1-0 lead early in the first as the Outlaws converted on the power play for the second time this season. Holding the 1-0 lead after one period, the Ice Diggers answered with two in the second before North Iowa struck again to tie the game at two. With a man in the penalty box, Brooks DeZellar won the face-off to Ross Ring-Jarvi and the speedster split through the Ice Diggers defense and scored on the breakaway to tie the game after two periods. In the third however, Alpena scored quickly on a power play and last chance efforts for the Outlaws fell short.
Austin Maginnis played well in his first game, giving up three goals on 40 shots. North Iowa opens their home schedule next weekend, Friday and Saturday night at the North Iowa Ice Arena against the Kenai River Brown Bears at 7:30 pm.
