Birmingham Magicians News Release

Birmingham, AL. The ABA Birmingham Magicians professional basketball team is doing its part to fight high gas prices by offering a reduced free agent tryout camp fee according to team officials.

"We realize that a lot of players traveled hundreds of miles to attend our first camp and with skyrocketing gas prices, we thought this would be a great way to ease the burden of traveling costs for players trying to make our team," Albert Owens, Director of Free Agents Camps for the Magicians, said.

The Birmingham Magicians have reduced the camp registration fee for their next scheduled tryout to be held August 27th in Dothan, AL. The fee for the Dothan camp has been reduced to just $75 per player, a $50 reduciton from the initial $125 fee, according to team officials. "We want to attract players from all over the country, especially the Southeastern US," said team owner, Reggie McDaniel. Onsite registration will be $100.

The Magicians next tryout camp scheduled for August 27th from 830am to 430pm at the Greater Beulah Family Life Center Gymnasium located at 254 Headland Ave in Dothan. "We have been getting a lot of calls concerning the Dothan camp," Owens said. "However, it is very important that players register early to insure they get a spot which will be limited to the first 75 players to register."

Cashier's check or money order may be made payable to The Birmingham Magicians, LLC and forwarded to The Birmingham Magicians, 2328 2nd Avenue North, Birmingham, AL 35203. Players can go to www.bham-magicians.com to download registration forms and fax to 205 327 9191 or email to magicians@bellsouth.net.
