San Diego Riptide News Release
SAN DIEGO â Madison High OL/DL Marcos Molina earned honors as the recipient of the "sandiegoriptide.com High School Ironman of the Week" for the week of September 20-21.
In Madison's 49-0 win over Hoover, the two-time All-League lineman rated out at 95% correctly and physically dominating on 36 of 38 plays on offense. The team ran most of their plays towards his side of the ball and their quarterback was untouched the entire night. In addition, Molina had five pancake blocks.
On defense, the 6-foot 2, 255-pound senior recorded eleven tackles, a career-best three sacks, four QB hurries and recovered a fumble.
"I like being in the game. It's all I've known since I was little," says Molina. "I've always gotten lots of reps on both sides of the ball and hope that a college can let be go both ways."
He will be honored prior to the Riptide's 2003 home opener with all the weekly award winners and the Ironman of the Year. The entire Madison varsity football team will receive tickets to that game to support their teammate.
Additional tickets to that game will be available at discounted rates for family members, friends and classmates. Riptide Head Coach Cree Morris will stop by after the Warhawks practice this Thursday to present Molina a certificate and talk to the team. Madison's next game is this Friday at home vs. Mission Bay. Kickoff is slated for 7:pm and Madison is located at 4833 Doliva Dr., San Diego 92117.
Molina is a three-year starter on both sides of the ball and maintains a 3.5 GPA. He's received some scholarship offers already and hopes to be playing next fall for a school in California.
