
Macon's Garrett Bartus Named Easton Player of the Week

HUNTERSVILLE, NC - The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) on Tuesday announced goaltender Garrett Bartus of the Macon Mayhem is the Easton Player of the Week for February 22-28.
Bartus went 2-0-0, posting a 2.45 goals against average and a .933 save percentage as the Mayhem went on the road and took a pair of games from second-place Mississippi. The wins helped Macon move four points ahead of Columbus for the eighth and final playoff spot.
On Friday, the St. Charles, IL native stopped 31 of 33 shots as Macon defeated the RiverKings 3-2. Bartus was even better on Saturday, making 39 saves in a 4-3 overtime win over the RiverKings. Four of his 39 saves came in the extra period as Macon was outshot 42-19 for the game and 27-8 over the final two periods of regulation.
Bartus currently ranks first among SPHL netminders in minutes and saves, is second in wins, save percentage and shutouts and fifth in goals against average. Bartus played four seasons at the University of Connecticut, where he was named Team MVP his freshman and sophomore seasons. Bartus finished his career as the winningest goaltender in Connecticut history with 40 victories. He also finished first all-time in program history and second in Atlantic Hockey history with 3,293 saves.
