
Macomb County Mustangs hire Director of player personnel and sign two new players

Jere Shockey- The Macomb County Mustangs announce the hiring of Jere Shockey as the Mustangs Director of Player Personnel and Assistant Coach. Shockey has been involved in basketball his entire life and was a teammate of Pistol Pete Maravich at Louisiana State University. Shockey played professionally in the International Basketball Association. Shockey's impact was immediate in bringing to the Mustang's roster- two new additions in Willie Simms and Napoleon Petteway.
New PlayerâWillie Simms spent 12 seasons in the CBA. Willy is the All Time Leading scorer in the CBA; he also ranks fifth in rebounds and first in games played. Willie played at the University of Wisconsin from 1987-1991 where he averaged 14 points and 5 rebounds per game.
New PlayerâNapoleon Petteway played his college career at the University of Missouri where he led his team in scoring, averaging 18.2 points per game. Petteway has played overseasâin Brazil he averaged 27.2 points and 7.2 rebounds, Portugal he averaged 28.2 points and 10.3 rebounds, Columbia he averaged 28.2 points and 9.2 rebounds and in Cyprus he averaged 29.7 points and 8.5 rebounds.
"I am very excited about these additions that Jere brought to our team, in fact Jere brought in Frank Gojacj who has been a fantastic addition averaging over 23 pts and averaging double figures in rebounds" Macomb County Owner Bill Bullock said; further adding "in the next week or so there will be a few more changes as we try to tighten the roster up to match the high level of play found in our region." The Mustangs also released point guard Jason McGowan.
IBL Commissioner Mikal Duilioâ"A normal IBL schedule is tough, but they (Mustangs) have the toughest schedule of any team in the IBL."
