The Macomb County Mustangs had a season of ups and downs in their first season of play. The Mustangs opened at home with a great crowd, Karen Newman signing and Terry Mills signing autographs, and with all of that going on the Mustangs lost the Grand Rapids Flight with a 48-point loss. The Mustangs went on to finish with a record of 4-16 and finished 7th in the East.

Tuesday night the Mustangs decided to part ways with Head Coach Milton Douglas "This is a big year for the Mustangs, and we need to go in a new direction" said Bullock.

The Mustangs have started the interview process already and anyone interested in the opportunity should contact the Mustangs by sending their resumes to info@macombcountymustangs.com.

The Mustangs have talked to about four candidates about the opening and are looking to open it up to other coaches that have an interest. The Mustangs have spoken with the following candidates. Mustang's Assistant Coach Willie Betts, has talked to owner Bill Bullock and will be staying on with the program with the possibility as head coach or at least staying on as the Mustangs top Assistant Coach. Former Detroit Piston Terry Mills has expressed interest in coaching before. Former Mount Clemens Coach Al Snyder who retired for coaching a few years ago with over 450 wins and was inducted into the Macomb County Hall of Fame. Coach Carlos Briggs who has been coaching at Schoolcraft with a record of 226 wins and 35 loses voted MCCAA State Coach of the year 4 times, district champs 3 times and Michigan State Basketball Champs, Junior College Division I for 4 years.

"I have had good talks with Coach Betts, Coach Snyder and Coach Briggs and I would also want to open it up and make sure I find the right person to turn this program around" said Bullock.

The Mustangs plan on making an announcement in the next few weeks or so as to whom will be taking over as head coach.

The Mustangs have a few off-season things in the works with the possibility of a few charity games. With the first one to take place sometime in October, more information will be available soon about the game.
