Pearl, MS -- The Mississippi Braves have teamed up with the American Red Cross to help stock storm shelters and aid in relief efforts. In the aftermath of Tropical Storm Fay and Hurricane Gustav and the impending landfall of Tropical Storm Hanna and Hurricane Ike, the American Red Cross is in need of assistance.
The Mississippi Braves would like to invite all fans to bring donations to Trustmark Park for any of the M-Braves playoff games in the next week. The Braves will be at home on Saturday, September 6th, and if necessary, Sunday, September 7th and Monday, September 8th.
The American Red Cross needs items such as bottled water, bottled or canned drinks, new blankets, new pillows, new towels, new sheets, new wash cloths, new hand towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, and deodorant. Fans are also encouraged to donate other personal hygiene items and children's toys.
Mississippi Braves General Manager Steve DeSalvo stated, "The Mississippi Braves and the entire Braves organization are proud to help the American Red Cross in any manner that we can. We take pride in helping the community around us and know that our great fans do the same. We'd like to encourage any fans that are able to join us in assisting the American Red Cross in this time of need."
