The Lynx will host the Sacramento Monarchs Thursday night in the two teams' first match-up of the season. The Monarchs have started the 2008 season 4-4, going 2-3 on the road and 2-1 at Arco Arena. Sacramento recorded a 3-1 record against the Lynx last season, extending their lead in the overall series to 21-11. The Lynx dropped both contests at Target Center last season, the first a 74-64 decision back on May 20, 2007 and the second, an 85-80 thriller back on July 6. Seimone Augustus lead the way for the Lynx in each of the four contests against the Monarchs last season by scoring 20-plus points in each game. Minnesota held Detroit to only 16 points in the first half. The 16 points have withstood 10 years of Lynx basketball to remain a record for least points scored in the first half by a Lynx opponent. Minnesota went on to defeat the Shock in their inaugural regular season game, winning by the score of 68-51. Teresa Edwards led the Lynx in scoring with 20 points.
