Lynx Select Roneeka Hodges in Dispersal Draft

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - The Minnesota Lynx today announced that they have selected four-year veteran guard Roneeka Hodges in the dispersal draft from the Houston Comets. Hodges comes to the Lynx with averages of 4.8 points and 1.4 rebounds in 103 career games, 18 starts. In 15 games, six starts, with Houston in 2008, Holmes averaged 7.3 points and 2.0 rebounds. Hodges averaged a career-high 7.5 ppg in 33 games with Houston in 2006. The 5-11 guard is a career 33.5 percent three-point shooter, including a career-best 36.7 percent in 2006. Hodges was selected by Houston in the second round (15th overall) of the 2005 WNBA Draft.
"Roneeka gives us a veteran perimeter player who we feel can come in and compete for minutes at the guard position," Lynx Executive Vice President Roger Griffith said. "She's a versatile player who has playoff experience and will add another three-point threat to our roster. She will be a great complement to our young and talented roster."
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Hodges played her first three years of college basketball at Louisiana State University before transferring to player her senior season at Florida State. Hodges averaged 19.2 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 32 games with the Seminoles in 2004-05, earning Associated Press All-America Honorable Mention, Kodak Region II All-America and All-ACC First-Team honors. In three seasons with LSU, Hodges averaged 7.1 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 94 games.
