INDIANAPOLIS - The Indiana Fever added second-year point guard Erica White to its roster Monday, selecting the former LSU star with the sixth choice in the Women's National Basketball Association Dispersal Draft. Each of the WNBA's 13 remaining teams had a draft pick from among the remaining players whose rights were retained by the disbanded Houston Comets franchise.

The 5-3 guard teamed with former LSU and WNBA All-Rookie center Sylvia Fowles during four consecutive Final Four appearances with the Tigers. As a rookie in Houston, she averaged 3.6 points and 1.4 assists while appearing in all 34 games. She made two starts for the Comets and posted a scoring high of 13 points against Sacramento. She added rookie highs of four rebounds and five assists, while playing behind former All-Star Shannon Johnson.

"It was a very nice surprise," said Fever Chief Operating Officer and General Manager Kelly Krauskopf, of White's availability with the sixth selection. "If there is any position that we needed to take a look at, it's at the point guard. She is very quick and athletic. She had a great career at LSU and a solid rookie season in Houston. She is still a young player but we are excited to bring her to Indy and see what she can do."

At LSU, she finished third in school history with 519 career assists. She started 91 games through four seasons and was a finalist for the 2008 Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Award.

Currently, she is playing professionally in Netanya, Israel this winter.
