Augusta Lynx News Release

AUGUSTA, Ga.−The Augusta Lynx have hired Chad Weprin, MS, ATC, to be the club's head athletic trainer and strength and conditioning coach, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations John Marks announced today.

"I'm very pleased that Chad's on board with the Lynx, as we had a great working relationship in Pensacola," Marks said. "Chad is very knowledgeable about the game and his profession, and I'm looking forward to working with him again."

Weprin, a 39-year-old native of Chicago, spent the 2006-07 season as the head athletic trainer and strength and conditioning coach with the Pensacola Ice Pilots, his first with that club. Prior to joining the Ice Pilots staff, Weprin spent a year in Columbus, Ohio as an assistant athletic trainer with the Junior Blue Jackets of the United States Hockey League and as the associate assistant athletic trainer with the Columbus Blue Jackets of the NHL. Weprin has also spent a season as assistant athletic trainer at the World Junior Championships with the U.S. National team in 2005, as well as a year as an assistant trainer at the Elite Prospect Entry Draft in Ann Arbor, Mich. in 2004. Weprin's position with the Lynx is not his first involvement with the Tampa Bay organization, as he served a short clinical rotation with the Lightning in 2002.

Weprin has a bachelor's degree from DePaul University in Chicago, and attended Seton Hall as a graduate student before earning his master's degree in sports medicine from the University of Findlay in Ohio.

Weprin and his wife, Kim, plan to move to the CSRA in the coming weeks.

The Augusta Lynx will begin their 11th season of play this October. Season tickets, group tickets, small business packages and fundraisers are all available by calling 706.724.4423 or by logging on to augustalynx.com.
