THE HILLCATS: Monday, the 'Cats lost to the Potomac Nationals 1-0...Starting pitcher Chris Masters matched his season high in innings pitched with seven and held the Nationals to just one run but took the loss for the Hillcats...The one run came in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly...Lynchburg out hit Potomac 5-to-3, but only had one runner reach second base all night...RHP Cameron Selik earned the win with six scoreless frames...The Hillcats currently sit in fourth place in the Northern Division at 8-15, 6.0 games back of the Potomac Nationals...

VS. POTOMAC: The Hillcats are 8-6 against the Nationals this season...They last met in Lynchburg last weekend, where in the series finale the Nationals fell behind 8-1 after three innings but went on to win the ball game 11-10...Potomac nearly erased a five-run deficit in the last two innings Sunday night but the Hillcats were able to hang on, stranding the winning run at second in the ninth...Potomac's win last night snapped a streak of five straight Hillcats wins at Pfitzner Stadium...The Hillcats won six in a row against Potomac earlier this season...The road team is 10-4 in the season series...Last year, Potomac took the season series 11-8 from Lynchburg...The former Braves Advanced-A affiliate, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, fared even worse, dropping 14 of 20 to the Nationals a season ago...

PLAYING SHORT-HANDED: Lynchburg left for Potomac on Sunday morning with two key components of their roster staying behind...OF Adam Milligan and INF Joe Leonard stayed back in Lynchburg...Milligan will miss the entire series, while Leonard plans to join the team for the Wednesday finale...Milligan who has spent two stints on the disabled list already this season, was scratched from the lineup card late Saturday evening due to pain in his knee...Leonard spent Friday night in the hospital after complaining about chest pains and was not available to play Saturday...The Hillcats have not put either on the DL as of Monday morning, and are currently playing with 10 position players: two catchers, four infielders, and four outfielders....

SCORELESS AGAIN: The Hillcats were shut out for the 10th time this season Monday night...They now have been shut out more times than any other team in the league and hold a league-worst shutout record of 6-10...Through 24 second half games the 'Cats have been held scoreless five times, already matching their first half total...At this rate, Lynchburg is on pace to be shut out 14 times in the second half...They given up 10 runs in their shutout losses this half, losing 2-0, 4-0, 1-0, 2-0, 1-0...

BEST OF THE BRAVOS: Eight members of the Hillcats are ranked amongst the top 30 prospects in the Braves organization according to Baseball America...That list includes C Christian Bethancourt (12), SS Andrelton Simmons (15), RHP David Hale (17), RHP Dimasther Delgado (18), OF Todd Cunningham (20), OF Adam Milligan (22), INF Joe Leonard (23) and 2B Phil Gosselin (25)...

TWO BAGS ARE BETTER THAN ONE: INF Joey Terdoslavich smacked his league leading 34th double of the season Sunday night with the bases loaded and two outs in the seventh...The two-bagger cleared the bases and turned out to be the game winner putting the Hillcats up 5-0 (they held on to win 5-4)...He has now put eight doubles between him and Winston-Salem's Ian Gac who holds the second-most with 26...He has doubled in four of his last six games...Last night, he went 3-for-3 in a game which saw his team total five hits in all...His perfect night bought his season average up to .280 for just the second time this season...He held a .280 clip for one day after going 3-for-4 back on June 5...

SIMMERING HOT JULY: After posting his season worst statistics in June, SS Andrelton Simmons has been on fire so far in July...He has hit safely in 15 of 16 July contests with seven multi-hit games and is currently on a nine game hit-streak...He's hitting .355 with eight runs scored and three runs driven in this month after posting a season-worst .258 clip in the month of June...

JUST MASTERS' LUCK: LHP Chris Masters suffered the loss last night, despite only surrendering just one run over seven frames...Masters has won two games since the beginning of June and in both games he has given up four runs...He's allowed just one run in three starts since June as well but is 0-1 in those three appearances after last night's loss...

TONIGHT'S OPPOSING PITCHER: RHP Adam Olbrychowski was selected in the fifth round of the 2007 draft by the Yankees out of Pepperdine...Began his career as a starter, but was convered to a reliever going into the 2009 season...Made it as high as Double-A with the Yankees...Traded to the Nationals for outfielder Justin Maxwell in February, 2011...Has made 21 appearances for Potomac this season with his last five being starts...Pitched twice against the Hillcats in relief, and made one start...On April 9, pitched one and two-thirds innings, giving up one hit and three runs...On May 28, pitched three and on-third shutout innings, giving up just one hit...Made his fifth start of the season July 9...Gave up seven runs, five earned, on 11 hits in four and two-thirds innings pitched in loss...The July 9 start was his last start before today...Currently 2-4 with a 4.93 ERA and one save...
