Luzayadio Named UIF Special Teams Player of the Week for Week Two

The Evansville BlueCats are excited to announce that kicker Ton-Ton Luzayadio has been named UIF Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance against the Ohio Valley Greyhounds in Week Two. Luzayadio was successful on 3 of his 4 field goal attempts and 3 of his 4 extra point attempts, giving him 12 points in the game. Luzayadio's field goal tries were successful from 33, 34, and 42 yards. His 3 field goals in a single game ties the team record he already co-owns for most field goals in a game. His only missed field goal was on an attempt from well over 50 yards away.
Luzayadio was also excellent on kick-off duty during Week Two, forcing the Greyhounds to start with poor field position. His low swirling squib kicks were difficult for the Greyhounds to pick up and advance before the BlueCats coverage team arrived to make the tackle. Of the seven kick returns in the game for Ohio Valley, the Greyhounds were only able to gain 14 net kick return yards.
Last season, Evansville BlueCats players received UIF Player of the Week honors a record 8 times. Luzayadio earned Special Team Player of the Week honors a year ago in Week 6 of 2005 while kicking for the Black Hills Red Dogs, coincidentally, that game was in Evansville against the BlueCats.
RJ Rollins and Chad Eads of the Omaha Beef were named Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week by the league.
This Sunday, Luzayadio, Rollins, and Eads will all meet at the Omaha Civic Auditorium as the Evansville BlueCats will take on the Omaha Beef. Kickoff for Sunday's game is scheduled for 3:05pm.
