Lupandin Inks Contract for New Season

Moline, IL-The Quad City Mallards today announced that the team has signed defenseman Andrei Lupandin for the 2006-07 season. Lupandin rejoins the team after playing 57 games in a Mallards uniform during 2005-06.
Lupandin recorded 28 points (five goals and 23 assists) during his initial stint with the Mallards before being traded to Motor City at the UHL trade deadline. With the Mechanics, Lupandin recorded five points (two goals and three assists) in 13 games. His rights were re-acquired by the Mallards last month with the rights to Craig MacDonald in exchange for the rights to forward Frank Littlejohn.
Lupandin has played 448 professional games including 137 UHL appearances. He has 226 career points on 70 goals and 156 assists. The Kharkiv, Ukraine native has also recorded 395 penalty minutes during his pro career.
"We're thrilled to have Andrei back in a Mallards jersey," said Mallards President Tim Taylor. "Trades are one the most difficult aspects of this business, and moving Andrei last season was painstaking. We felt he brought a lot to our team last year, and we're looking forward to his contributions this season."
"It was a tough decision to trade Andrei last year," said Mallards General Manager and Head Coach Brian Curran. "We're glad to have him back. We know he wants to be here, and we know that he'll be a big part of our team."
