MUSKEGON - The Muskegon Lumberjacks have made their second mid-season international signing, and again it's a big one. Monday morning the team announced that they signed goaltender Shikhabutdin Gadzhiev. A 2004 birth year from Slovakia.

Gadzhiev started the season playing in the Slovakian u20 league with HC Slovan Bratislava where he recorded a 5-1-0 record with a 1.50 goals-against average, and .933 save percentage. His strong play earned him a call up to the Slovakian 2nd league by HC Modre Kridla Slovan. In 14 games Gadzhiev holds a 2.21 gaa and a .933 sv%.

When asked about Gadzhiev coming to the USHL and Muskegon Head Coach Parker Burgess "I think it shows the global reach that the league has, and the recognition and exposure players get when they play in this league." Burgess then talked about the effect the latest move has for the team "Just like a couple other recent acquisitions this move adds a lot of talent in a very important position on the ice."

The other international signing this season came back in October when the Jacks added Swedish born defenseman Filip Nordberg (Stockholm, SWE). Nordberg has since stepped into a leadership role playing on the top defensive pairing alongside Easton Young (Grand Rapids, MN).

Welcome to Muskegon Shikhabutdin!
