Lumberjacks Release de la Cruz

February 27, 2004 - Northeast League (NEL)
Bangor Lumberjacks News Release

Bangor, ME- The Bangor Lumberjacks released veteran outfielder Lorenzo de la Cruz today, the Northeast League club announced. De la Cruz had one year left on his contract.

Signed to a new deal prior to the 2003 season, de la Cruz had a disappointing year, batting .257 with eight home runs and 49 RBI. 2003 saw a drop-off in production from the outfielder/designated hitter from his MVP season in 2002, when hit .367 with fifteen homers and 75 RBI with the Lumberjacks.

De la Cruz's release means that the Lumberjacks do not have any veterans currently listed on their roster. Veteran outfielder Juan LeBron was released earlier this month, and pitchers Chris Clark and Kevin Pincavitch, were also let go. Pincavitch will retain his role as pitching coach for the Lumberjacks in 2004.

Season Tickets and Pack Tickets are on sale now at the Jacks store in the Bangor Mall. The Lumberjacks begin the 2004 season on the road in New Jersey, and open at home on Thursday, June 3 at 6:30 PM at the new John Winkin Baseball Complex on the campus of Husson College in Bangor. Please call 207-947-1900 for all ticket, promotional, and sponsorship information or stop in the Lumberjacks Pro Shop located in the Bangor Mall.
