Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release

MUSKEGON, Mich. - The Muskegon Lumberjacks came out hot in the first period, but the Chicago Steel came back from two goals down with three unanswered goals to win by a final score of 3-to-2 on Friday, Feb. 25 from Mercy Health Arena in downtown Muskegon. Quinn Hutson and Jake Braccini scored both lamplighters for the Jacks, but a three-point night from Chicago's Adam Fantilli gave the Steel a four-point cushion for first place in the Eastern Conference standings between the two teams.

1st Period

It only took 1:39 into the first period for the Lumberjacks to get on the board first, courtesy of Quinn Hutson with his 25th goal of the season to give Muskegon the 1-to-0 lead. Ben Strinden helped with the lone assist.

At 7:01, Jake Braccini added a power play goal to make it a 2-to-0 game for the Jacks early on in the first period. Jake Richard scored the lone assist on Braccini's 18th goal of the season.

However, the Steel would respond with a power play goal for themselves, that from Joe Miller to cut the deficit within a goal. Adam Fantilli scooped up the lone assist to make it a 2-to-1 game.

After 20 minutes of action, the Lumberjacks took a 2-to-1 lead heading into the first intermission.

2nd Period

The only goal scored in the second period came from Chicago's Sam Lipkin on the power play to level the score 2-to-2. Lipkin's 21st of the season was assisted by Adam Fantilli and Jake Livanavage.

After two periods of play, both teams skated to the dressing room tied 2-to-2.

3rd Period

After trailing 2-to-0, the Steel pulled in front after an even-strength goal from Adam Fantilli to give Chicago the 3-to-2 lead at 6:20 of the third period. Luca Fantilli and Hunter McDonald picked up the assists on the eventual game-winning goal for the Steel.

In the end, the Lumberjacks could not respond for the equalizer and the Chicago Steel came back from two goals down to win by a final score of 3-to-2.
