Lukas Parik Signs Contract with Ontario Reign

June 9, 2021 - United States Hockey League (USHL) - Dubuque Fighting Saints News Release

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Dubuque Fighting Saints goaltender Lukas Parik has signed a contract with the Ontario Reign, the official AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings. Parik played in 28 regular season games and two playoff games as a member of the Saints, and turned the season around completely with a 15-8-4 record, a 3.35 GAA and a .867 save percentage.

The Czech netminder was originally drafted by the Kings in the third round of the 2019 NHL Draft, 87th overall. He completed his junior career in Dubuque after representing his home country for the second time in as many seasons during the World Junior Championships.

"Lukas came to Dubuque after the World Juniors and helped us turn our season around. He is a true competitor with lots of energy," said Kalle Larsson, GM of the Fighting Saints. "We are excited for him signing with the Ontario Reign and would like to thank him for his time in Dubuque."

Parik notched six wins in the month of April alone, including saving his best for last with a shutout of the Green Bay Gamblers on April 24 to cement the team's berth into the Clark Cup Playoffs. Parik also dazzled in Game 1 of the first round, where he made 27 saves on 29 shots, good for a .931 save percentage and a 2.00 GAA against the top offense in the league.

Parik's tutelage will now fall to a familiar face, as he will be directly overseen by Matt Millar, the Reign's goaltending coach. Millar was a mainstay on the Dubuque Fighting Saints' coaching staff for six seasons.

Parik's ascendance to the AHL now marks the third Dubuque Fighting Saints alum to sign a professional contract in the past two months (Alex Steeves, Tyce Thompson).
