
Luis Fernando de Souza Leaves Groove

GREENVILLE, S.C. (January 2, 2003) - Center Luis Fernando de Souza has decided to leave the Greenville Groove of the National Basketball Development League. NBDL Executive Director Karl Hicks and Groove head coach Tree Rollins said that Fernando de Souza left the team for personal reasons.
The 6-foot-11, 255-pound post player from Brazil joined the Groove Nov. 27 and played in 11 games, starting three. He averaged 4.6 points and 2.7 rebounds. He was averaging just over 13 minutes played per game.
The Groove (10-8) hosts league-leading Huntsville (12-8) Friday. Tipoff is 7 p.m. at the Bi-Lo Center.
