January 2, 2003 - NBA G League (G League) News Release
GREENVILLE, S.C. (January 2, 2003) - The North Charleston Lowgators have acquired center Will Cunningham, according to an announcement today by National Basketball Development League Executive Director Karl Hicks and North Charleston head coach Doug Marty. Cunningham will take the spot on the active roster of center Thad Delaney, who is rehabilitating an injured knee.
Cunningham, a 6-foot-11, 250-pound Temple ('96) product, has played in the NBA with the Utah Jazz, New Jersey Nets and Vancouver Grizzlies. He has also played professionally in the CBA, the USBL and internationally. His most recent assignment has been with the Nike All-Star Touring Team, playing exhibition games against college teams in November 2002.
Delaney averaged 5.1 points and 7.6 rebounds in 16 games for North Charleston. His rebounding totals are good enough for fourth in the league.
Cunningham is expected to be in uniform when the Lowgators host the Mobile Revelers Friday night. He will wear jersey number 13.
