Hamilton Named Player of the Month

GREENVILLE, S.C., January 2, 2003 â Columbus Riverdragons forward Tang Hamilton has been named the National Basketball Development League Player of the Month for games in December 2002.
Hamilton averaged a double-double for the month of December, averaging 16.2 points and 10.1 rebounds over 11 games. The 6-foot-8, 220-pound Mississippi State product leads the NBDL with 10 double-doubles in 19 games and is just three shy of the league record of 13. Hamilton also leads the league in total rebounding (9.7 pg) and offensive rebounding (3.4 pg).
Following is a look at additional Hamilton highlights from the month of December:
· Scored in double-figures in 10 of 11 games, including seven consecutive to end the month.
· Notched league-high tying 15 rebounds, along with season-high 13 defensive rebounds vs. Greenville (12/21).
· Established a personal season-high 26 points vs. Roanoke (12/29).
· Shot 53-percent (69-of-130) from the field in December.
· Currently third in the league in field goal percentage at .535 (123-of-230).
· His 16.2 points per game is currently sixth in the league in scoring.
· Leads the NBDL in minutes played per game at 33.8.
Hamilton joins former teammate and current Los Angeles Clippers forward Tremaine Fowlkes as Columbus Riverdragons who have won NBDL Player of the Month honors. Fowlkes was named the first-ever NBDL Player of the Month prior to being called up by the Clippers.
Other nominations for NBDL Player of the Month for games in December 2002 included Eddie Gill of Asheville, Terrell McIntyre of Fayetteville, Billy Thomas of Greenville, Bakari Hendrix of Huntsville, Eugene Edgerson of Mobile and Terrence Shannon of Roanoke.
