TULSA - Luca Sowinski returns to FC Tulsa for the 2024 USL Championship season.
The 2023 season saw Sowinski embark on a loan with Charlotte Independence. Now, with a wealth of experience under his belt, Sowinski is set to return to FC Tulsa for the 2024 USL Championship to continue making significant contributions to the club's legacy.
FC Tulsa signed Luca Sowinski to a professional contract on July 14, 2022, becoming the youngest player in club history to sign a pro contract with the club until it signed Angel Bernal a few months later.
Sowinski wasted no time making a name for himself at FC Tulsa. In his inaugural season, the California native made four appearances for FC Tulsa, all as a starter, and logged three impressive goals in just 265 minutes of play.
The highlight of his debut season came on October 2, 2022, when Sowinski achieved the remarkable feat of bagging the second hat trick in FC Tulsa's history during only his second professional start.
Sowinski's ascent to professional soccer began when he joined the Barca Residency Academy at the age of 15 in 2019. Rising through the ranks of the Academy, he landed a spot with the U-19 squad ahead of the 2021-2022 season, leaving an indelible mark with 20 MLS Next appearances. Sowinski became a top scorer with a total of 15 goals and 5 assists during his stint.
During this period, Sowinski asserted his dominance by netting an impressive 15 goals contributing five assists en route to becoming the club's top scorer. His club was named Southwest Division Champions and earned an MLS Next playoff berth as well.
Before joining up with the Barca Residency Academy, Sowinski spent 11 years honing his skills with his hometown youth club City SC Carlsbad. This early foundation undoubtedly played a crucial role in shaping the promising talent that would go on to make history at FC Tulsa.
Sowinski originally committed to the University of Denver, but opted for an alternative path by signing his first professional contract with FC Tulsa in July of 2022 instead.
