Lubbock Hawks News Release
The Lubbock Hawks roster is ready for the season opener against Colorado on Saturday, January 15th. Rounding out the 12-woman roster is former Lady Raider Casey Jackson, joining Alicia Thompson, Stacy Stephens, Shereka Wright, Molly Creamer, Kelly Mazzante, Jackie Stiles, Hazel Taylor, Kesha Watson, and Fatou N'Diaye, Umeki Webb, and Bandegne Diop.
Casey couldn't stay away from Lubbock too long. She has returned, but this time as a Lubbock Hawk. A native of Amarillo, Jackson was a stand-out athlete at Palo-Duro High School. Earning MVP honors in the district as well as on her team.
While at Texas Tech, Casey was a very solid player. At times contributing to the team as an undersized post, she did not let her size stop her from becoming a reliable force down low. Named to the Academic All Big 12 first team three times and receiving the Cheryl Greer Fighting Heart Award from her teammates, Casey gives a 110% every time she steps on the court.
Lubbock Hawks head coach Sheryl Estes says, "I have known Casey Jackson since high school and she is a tough blue collar player. I'm excited she is going to be a part of our team."
General manager Ricky Romero says, " he hopes Lubbock fans will be pleased that the team is keeping some Lady Raider favorites in town for more basketball."
It's not too late to get your tickets for the Lubbock Hawks' 2005 inaugural season at the Lubbock Sports Center located at 6024 45th Street or by calling 806-797-2333. The Hawks take the court at home for the first time January 18, 2005 for a 7:00 tip off. All games will be played at the Rip Griffin Center on the campus of Lubbock Christian University.
