The Lubbock Hawks (4-4) took on the Birmingham Power (4-2), Saturday night in Alabama for the first time this season. The Hawks were without starters Stacy Stephens and Shereka Wright, both who are resting foot injuries for tomorrow's game against Dallas.
Lubbock's 8-woman roster stood up to the plate, winning a very important game on the road and bringing the Hawks' record back to over .500.
Jocelyn Penn led the Hawks with 18-points and was one rebound shy of collecting her third double-double on the season, grabbing 9-boards. Kelly Mazzante, who is averaging 15-points a game added 17 points in the night's contest. Kesha Watson and Molly Creamer had 14 and 10 points respectively in Lubbock's 73-61 win over the Power.
The Lubbock Hawks are back at home tomorrow to take on the Jia Perkins, Anna DeForge, Cheryl Ford and the Dallas Fury. The Fury beat Colorado Saturday night 73-61, improving to (3-5) on the season and giving the Chill their second loss. Tomorrow's 7:00 PM match-up will be the second time this season the two teams have met, with Lubbock leading the series 1-0 with a 90-84 win over the Fury.
