Lubbock Hawk receives award in Dallas

The Lubbock Hawks' season is less than a week away, but the players are already receiving awards. The Hawks' Kelly Mazzante, current member of the WNBA's Charlotte Sting and former Penn State stand-out was recognized this evening in Grapevine, TX by the NCAA.
The 40th annual NCAA Today's Top VIII Award was presented to a group of student-athletes from the 2004 calendar year, recognized for their academic and athletic achievement, as well as their character and leadership.
"It is very prestigious and truly an honor to be selected out of all the student-athletes in the nation," says Mazzante.
Kelly takes the floor as a Lubbock Hawk against the Colorado Chill in the season opener on Saturday, January 15th in Fort Collins.
