LOWELL, Massachusetts - On Friday, June 17th , at 6pm the Lowell Spinners, short season
affiliate of the Red Sox will be opening their 2016 season against the Vermont Lake Monsters (affiliate of the Oakland A's), with 2014 Red Sox first round draft choice Michael Kopech as the starting pitcher. The pre game festivities will feature a 20th Anniversary celebration of the Spinners being in Lowell.
Pregame ceremonies will feature a number of local dignitaries including US Representative Niki Tsongas and Lowell City Manager Kevin Murphy. Also present will be outgoing owner Drew Weber, incoming owner Dave Heller and New York Penn League President Ben Hayes, all of whom will be available to the media after the pregame festivities have concluded.
