LOUISVILLE, KY (December 8, 2011) -- The Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana is partnering with the Louisville Lightning Professional Arena Soccer League (PASL) team for the second home game of the 2011-2012 season on Friday, December 9, at Mockingbird Valley Sports Complex. The partnership will help raise awareness and money for the Boys & Girls Clubs' recent campaign to expand operations in response to the closing of four local Salvation Army locations.

Both the Louisville Lightning and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana encourage development of similar values among youth participants including fitness and recreation, leadership, health and life skills, education, and career development.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana provides safe programming and hot meals, through the Dare to Care Food Bank, to nearly 1300 youth in Kentuckiana. During November, the Boys & Girls Clubs began a campaign to expand Club operations by providing support for the additional 1700 children displaced by the closing of the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Clubs in October of this year.

As part of the partnership, several members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana will be invited to attend the Lightning's second home game of their season this Friday night. Attendees will participate in the pre-game "First Kick Ceremony" and enjoy an autograph session with the team. They will also speak on behalf of the organization to help generate awareness for the expansion campaign. The official game ball will also be autographed by players and auctioned off following the match to help raise money for the Boys and Girls Clubs.

"We are really looking forward to partnering with the Louisville Lightning this season," said Jennifer Helgeson, President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kentuckiana. "Our organizations are doing a lot to provide structured programming for youth in the area and we hope people take notice of the many great things being accomplished."

Tickets for the event may be purchased in advance for only $7, or anytime Friday for $10. Fans are encouraged to arrive when the doors open at 6:30 pm to receive free Louisville Lightning mini soccer/stress balls (supplies limited to first 150 through the door) and participate in the Yellow Cab Happy Hour with $1 Budweiser products until kick-off. All games include a free kids zone with inflatables and games for children, music, an emcee, in-game promotions for fans, and plenty of high scoring action on the field. Spectators are encouraged to join the team on the field following each game for an autograph and picture session with players.
