
Louisiana's Shawn McNeil Named SBK Player Of The Week

CHARLOTTE, NC- The Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) today announced Shawn McNeil of the Louisiana IceGators is the SBK Player of the Week for November 15-21.
McNeil scored once and added four assists as the IceGators swept a pair of games at Fayetteville this past weekend.
On Friday, the Pembroke, Ontario native had a hand in each goal in the IceGators' 4-2 win over the FireAntz. McNeil assisted on three power-play tallies, before scoring his fourth goal of the season, as the IceGators scored all four goals in the first period. McNeil picked up his fourth power-play assist of the weekend as he set up Louisiana's first goal of the night in the IceGators' 3-1 win over Fayetteville on Saturday.
McNeil is no stranger to Louisiana hockey fans as he was a member of the original Louisiana IceGators (East Coast Hockey League) between 1999 and 2003, averaging 33 goals and 74 points in four seasons with the club. A third-round pick (78th overall) of the Washington Capitals in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, McNeil's best professional season came in 2002-2003 when he scored 40 goals and added 51 assists for the IceGators.
