The Louisiana Ice Gators handed the Mississippi Surge its most lopsided loss of the season, in a 6-1 win Saturday night at the Cajundome in Lafayette, La.

With the loss, the Surge see a three game winning streak come to a close. It was also the first road loss in regulation time in seven road games for the Surge. Louisiana took advantage of special team play, scoring three power play and one shorthanded goal.

It took a span of only 2:14 in the second period for Louisiana to put the game out of reach. Matt Robertson scored at 5:03, followed in short order by Kirk Byzcynski, Carre's second goal, and a short handed goal by Denny Kearney at 7:17. Louisiana finished the game 3-for-6 on the power play and the Surge was 0-for-5.

Missisippi's next game will be the first of two straight games visiting the Augusta RiverHawks next Friday and then again there on Saturday. The next home game for the Surge is Friday December 14 against the Fayetteville FireAntz.
