September 1, 2015 - SPHL (SPHL)
Louisiana IceGators News Release
Louisiana IceGators Head Coach Drew Omicioli announces the re-signings of 7 players. Today is the Southern Professional Hockey Leagues deadline for re-signing protected players. Gator fans should be thrilled with this list of players returning from last season.
Coach Omicioli has given us his thought on each of the re-signs below:
Jeremy Boyer= Center (5'11", 175 lbs)
Coach Omicioli- "I feel Jeremy is one of the most versatile players in the league. Throughout last season he demonstrated he was not only a top offensive threat, but also was along with Alex Hudson was one of the top defensive forwards both even strength and on the penalty kill."

Matt Viola= Left Wing (6', 183 lbs)
Per Coach Omicioli- "Matt brings a ton of energy and offensive production to our lineup. He is a player who brings a 100% every time he is on the ice and is a character player on and off the ice."

Luke Kasteel= Center (6'3", 212 lbs)
Coach Omicioli- "Luke is a player I can see playing at higher levels with a little more experience. His physical presence to go along with his offensive ability makes him a constant threat every time he touches the ice. Luke also brought a toughness to our lineup and a no fear attitude as he dropped the gloves with any one that was willing."

Stephen Buco= Center (5'7", 180 lbs)
Coach Omicioli- "I feel Stephen was one of the biggest offensive threats we had throughout the playoffs. His natural scoring ability to go along with outstanding speed will allow him to be a top producer in the SPHL. Buco is another player I feel with some more experience will make the jump to the next level in years to come."

Tanner Burton= Defenseman (6', 185 lbs)
Coach Omicioli- "Burton was the top producing defenseman in the league before his call up to the ECHL. His ability to read the play offensively and still get back to play great defense made him our most versatile defenseman last year. This year he will add to our PP and overall offensive production."

Jordan Ciccarello= Defenseman (6', 210 lbs)
Coach Omicioli- "Ciccarello in my opinion is the top skating defenseman in the league to go along with a blistering shot and a great mind for the game. I am looking for Jordan to come in and have a break out year for the IceGators this season."

Dan Cornell= Defenseman (6', 195 lbs)
Coach Omicioli- "Cornell was a defenseman that I brought up last year straight out of college and threw him right in to the fire and he responded like a seasoned veteran. Dan is steady defensive defenseman who also has the ability to be offensive and that to go along with his strength makes him a constant threat."
