Louie Navigates March Madness

Chesapeake Baysox News Release
BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce today that their lovable mascot Louie has selected a winner for the 2011 Division I Men's Basketball Championship. Louie has decided that the Georgetown Hoyas will win the championship, and to celebrate the accomplishment the Baysox have prepared a special ticket offer.
Baysox Director of Marketing Brandan Kaiser helped explain Louie's thinking. "There are really two reasons Louie decided that Georgetown will win," Kaiser said. "First, they are a local team. Georgetown University is only about 20 miles from Prince George's Stadium. Second, their mascot Jack is a bulldog, and Louie loves dogs. That's why The Baysox host mutt Monday every Monday game this year, where fans can bring their dogs to the games."
To show their support for the Hoyas, the Baysox have organized a special ticket offer based on the number of games Georgetown wins. For every game the Hoyas win in the 2011 tournament, the Baysox will take $1 off the price of upper and lower reserved seat tickets on Friday, April 15, as the Baysox take on the Erie SeaWolves at 7:05 p.m.
"Louie loves dogs, but he is not fond of the SeaWolves," Kaiser added. "We hope that all the Georgetown fans in the area will show their support as we play the SeaWolves in the second home game of our season. When the Hoyas win the championship, all their fans will save $6 on upper or lower reserved seat tickets for our game on April 15."
To receive the ticket discount, fans must purchase the tickets by 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 13. Tickets may be ordered in person at the Baysox box office, over the phone at (301) 464-4865 or online at www.baysox.com.
Baysox Mascot Coordinator Scott Hettenhouser expanded on Louie's decision-making process. "The Baysox have a lot of natural rivals in the tournament," Hettenhouser said. "There was no way Louie was going to predict Akron would win, the Akron Aeros are probably the Baysox biggest rivals. Since their mascot Orbit is a space cat, Louie also eliminated Tigers, Bearcats, Lions, Wildcats and Panthers."
"Akron is not the only Eastern League threat in the tournament," Hettenhouser continued. "Georgetown plays Virginia Commonwealth University in the first round. VCU plays next door to the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The Altoona Curve and Harrisburg Senators both play in Pennsylvania, and there are a number of teams from the Keystone State in the tournament. Louie intends to support the local team all the way through the championship. If the Hoyas can not pull it out, Louie hopes George Mason can find a way to win it all."
Baysox Baseball - We'll Knock Your Sox Off. The Baysox open their 19th season as the class Double-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles on the road in Harrisburg Thursday, April 7. They play their first game at Prince George's Stadium Thursday, April 14, at 7:05 p.m. Baysox ticket packages are now available at www.baysox.com.
