Orange County Flyers News Release

(Dublin, CA. April 24, 2008) The Golden Baseball League (GBL) announced today that the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have acquired the contract of C/INF Chad Miller of the Orange County Flyers. Miller joins fellow Flyers RHP Alex McRobbie and RHP Reed Dickert in the list of OC players to be plucked by major league organization in the last nine months.

Miller, 23, is a power hitting 1B/3B/C from Gilbert, Arizona who was the Arizona high school player of the year. He went on to Gilbert-Chandler Community College where he was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers but instead accepted a scholarship to play at the University of Nevada - Las Vegas. Undrafted after completing his NCAA career last June he joined the independent Aiken Foxhounds of the South Coast League where he hit .310 with 7 home runs in the final 32 games of the season and worked on converting to catcher as his primary position. His first game as a catcher was memorable as he drilled his pitcher in the back while throwing down to second base and then won the game in the 14th inning with a walk-off home run. With his power bat and strong arm he was signed by the Orange County Flyers in the off-season to work under Flyer Manager and Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter to continue his rapid development as a catching prospect.

Miller is the fifth GBL player in 2008 to be acquired by a major league organization following the 17 players sold in 2007.
