Wichita Stealth News Release
Wichita, Kan. - Former Wichita Stealth quarterback Ron Lopez signed on Friday with the Carolina Cobras of the Arena Football League and on Sunday Lopez played in his first AFL game since July 22, 2001.
Before being replaced in the fourth quarter, Lopez was 12-of-27 for 175 yards and three touchdowns. Despite a career-high 180 yards by Cobras' receiver Bernard Holmes, the Cobras were still unable to get their first victory of the season and fell to 0-6.
"We are very pleased for Ron," said Stealth head coach Bob Cortese. "This is an opportunity that he has been waiting on and once again he gets back to the level of play that he belongs at."
The Cobras will take the field next week in search of their first victory of the season against the Georgia Force on Saturday.
STEALTH NOTES: The Wichita Stealth open their af2 season on March 29th versus the Arkansas Twisters at the Kansas Coliseum. Season tickets are still available by calling the Stealth office at 316.755.3307.
