Lonnie Harrell and Brandon Williams earn honorable mention all-NBDL honors

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., March 14, 2003 – Huntsville Flight players Lonnie Harrell and Brandon Williams were each chosen Friday as honorable mention selections for the National Basketball Development League for their play during the 2002-03 season. The all-league teams, which consisted of first and second units as well as honorable mention selections, were voted on by the league coaches and announced by the NBDL office in Greenville, S.C.

Harrell, from Washington, D.C., has played in every game for the Flight this season and in all 102 career games for the franchise. In 46 games in 2002-03, Harrell has tallied 13.6 points per game, which ranks 13th among the league's leaders.

The 6-foot-7 guard/forward, who scored his NBDL-best 33 points against Columbus on Feb. 25, also has compiled averages of 3.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He tallied his first NBDL double-double in the season opener with 26 points and 10 rebounds against Roanoke. Harrell has collected 36 double-digit scoring games including a team-best nine contests with at least 20 or more points scored.

As for Williams, he started the first 38 games for the Flight before signing a pair of 10-day contracts with the Atlanta Hawks. During his time in Huntsville, the 6-foot-6 guard/forward tallied a 13.2 scoring average which ranks 14th in the NBDL. He put together 25 double-figure scoring games, including eight with 20 or more points.

Williams, who calls Detroit, Mich., home, also accumulated averaged of 4.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game.

The league's first team consisted of Tang Hamilton (Columbus), Mikki Moore (Roanoke), Devin Brown (Fayetteville), Tierre Brown (North Charleston) and Jeff Trepagnier (Asheville).

Derek Hood and Ernest Brown of Mobile headline the second team, along with Sedric Webber (North Charleston), Cory Alexander (Roanoke) and Nate Johnson (Columbus).
