Louisville Lightning News Release

LOUISVILLE, KY (January 6, 2011) - The Adidas/Budweiser 28th Annual Indoor Soccer Tournament will take place this Friday through Sunday at the home of the Louisville Lightning, Mockingbird Valley Sports Complex. As the longest running tournament of its kind in the country, the event attracts nearly 300 of the top adult amateur men's and women's soccer players from across the region each year. The weekend tournament will be highlighted with cash prizes and a Louisville Lightning Professional Team home match against the Illinois Piasa, Saturday night at 7:30 pm.

As 2012 begins, the Louisville Lightning (5-3, overall) find themselves with their destiny in their own hands and in a prime position to qualify for the Eastern Division playoffs. Just 1.5 games out of first place, currently held by the Detroit Waza, the Lightning start 2012 with a schedule loaded with home games. The Illinois Piasa (3-5, overall and 3 games back from first place) are traveling to Louisville after a three week break from games.

Last Friday night, the Lightning traveled to Cincinnati for their fourth and final match against the Cincinnati Kings. Louisville's three previous victories provided Cincinnati with a thirst for redemption. Cincinnati's defense fought an inspiring game in the 9-3 win, and the hometown crowd proved to be an insulator for the Lightning's powerful offense.

"It's very difficult to beat any team four times in a row and we just didn't match [Cincinnati's] intensity tonight," said Louisville Lightning Associate Head Coach, Ted Nichols. "We were missing some key personnel also, but they played a great match. This week we will regain our focus and be ready for Illinois Saturday."

The first 150 fans in the door Saturday night after 6:30 will receive free Louisville Lightning Strike Towels. Fans are encouraged to participate in the free kids zone, on field promotions, autograph sessions, and pre game happy hour with $1 Budweiser products prior to kickoff.
