Long Named International League Player of the Month

DES MOINES, IA - Infielder Jonathon Long was tabbed the International League Player of the Month for July the league announced today. Long had spent with entire season with the Iowa Cubs but was traded to Miami on Aug. 3 along with right-handed pitcher Jace Beck in exchange for Braxton Garrett.
Long played in 22 July games and batted .371 (33-for-89) with 20 runs scored, 13 doubles, four home runs and 14 RBI. During the month of July, he ranked among International League leaders in extra-base hits (1st, 17), doubles (T-1st), total bases (2nd, 58), runs (3rd), hits (4th), OPS (5th, .652) and slugging (7th, .652).
Long is the second I-Cub to earn the monthly honor this season, following Pedro Ramírez in April.
