Long Island Rough Riders Schedule Released

(Plainview, N.Y., March 16, 2004 - Wednesday) The Long Island Rough Riders team officials announce today the game schedule for the 2004 season.

The official start of the season will be at home, on April 24th, against the rival Westchester Flames. The first four matches also serve as qualifiers for the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. The 2004 season will feature the return to Long Island of the MLS' MetroStars on Tuesday, July 13th. All home games will take place at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale, NY, site of the 1998 Goodwill Games.

"We are looking for our 3rd National Championship", General Manager Jim Kilmeade commented. "Although our schedule is tough, we are a very difficult team to beat at home. Over our ten year history, the Rough Riders have not lost many games @ Mitchel Athletic Complex and we plan on continuing that tradition. "

The Long Island Rough Riders are one of the most successful soccer franchises in the United States. Capturing two National Championships in 1994 and 2002, they have launched the careers of some of the top players in America including Chris Armas, Tony Meola and Edson Buddle. In 2003, the Rough Riders organization was inducted into the United Soccer League "Hall of Fame", in recognition of their 10th year anniversary.
