
Long Island Rough Riders Count Down to Home Finale

Plainview, NY ; August 2, 2005 - The countdown is on to the final home game of the season for the Long Island Rough Riders. The squad will take on third place Western Mass Pioneers on Friday, August 5th at 7:30 PM at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale, NY.
The Rough Riders are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 3-0 loss to the Charlotte Eagles that knocked Long Island out of playoff contention. It was announced this past Saturday that Derrick Etienne has passed Giovanni Savarese for second place on the Rough Riders all-time points list. Etienne, who added a goal against Pittsburgh on July 24 th, now has 104 points. Meanwhile, Moussa Sy is in seventh place in the USL in points, tallying 20 points on 9 goals and 2 assists in just eleven games with the team.
Keyspan will be sponsoring Friday night's match. In honor of Keyspan night, ticket holders will receive a Keyspan fan at the gates.
This will be the third meeting of the Rough Riders and the Pioneers this season. In their previous two meetings, Western Mass had the upper hand, defeating the Rough Riders 2-1 on June 22nd and 1-0 on July 2nd. The two squads will meet for the fourth and final time on August 10th in Lowell, MA.
Recently added to the Rough Riders roster was Tal Sheynfeld, a native of Israel and standout at Adelphi University . Sheynfeld, an All-Conference selection in 2004, led Adelphi in points (23), goals (8) and assists (7) last season.
