London Lightning News Release
(LONDON, ON) The London Lightning and the KW Titans had a hard fought game coming right down to the final minutes of play where the Titans were able to lock down the victory, 101 to 97. The Lightning had a good defensive game but struggle on offence to hit open shots or find the open man leading to KW pulling away towards the end.
Each team came out with a lot of energy on the defensive end getting solid stops and keep the opposing teams from tallying points on the scoreboard. The Lightning were able to limit the Titans from three, holding them 10 of 35 for 28.6% for the game. The Titans struggled from the free throw line shooting 17 for 26 where London really excelled only missing four for game going 25-29. The Lightning did not capitalize on their opportunities, forcing 15 turnovers but only tallying 16 points off of them. The defence was strong for the Lightning but rebounding effort and lack of ability to find good shots gave them the loss in Game 2.
Garrett Williamson had another great game again tonight trying his best to keep the postseason hopes alive dropping 20 points. Others tallied double digit points were Marvin Phillips with 19, AJ Gaines 12, Xavier Moon 11, and Marcus Capers with 10. As much as the offence struggled in this playoff game there were still some bright spots reaching double figures. Williamson also totaled five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block in tonights game as well as shooting 11 of 12 from the free throw line. Williamson talked about the game tonight and what they need to do moving forward stating, "We need to do better down the stretch, we need to get stops when we need to get stops...we need to shift our focus and and keep believing."
The Lightning need to battle back heading into game 3 in KW to keep the series alive. Game 3 will be Thursday night April 9th , at 7 PM in KW. Our next home game will be Game 5 this Sunday April 14th , if the Lightning can win two straight on the road.
