Loggers Fall Short in St. Cloud, 4-3
July 13, 2022 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
La Crosse Loggers News Release
The La Crosse Loggers lost a tough one last night to the St. Cloud Rox, a team that has yet to lose in the second half of the season.
The Rox got out of the gate fast, with Charlie Condon (Georgia) putting his team ahead on a 2-run homer to center field off Mickey Thompson (San Jose State).
They went on to score 2 more runs in the 4th inning, coming from RBI singles by Will Worthington (San Diego) and John Nett (St. Cloud State).
Following 3.0 innings of work from Nathan Culley (Minnesota State-Mankato), Nick Hyde (Western Carolina) was able to limit the Loggers' offense through 4.0 innings. The Lumberman scored once in the 3rd and once in the 6th on a pair of sacrifice flies by Josh Stevenson and Xavier Casserilla (Wichita State).
In the 9th, the Loggers tried to scrape together a comeback. After a series of walks, a wild pitch, and a defensive miscue, Emilio Corona (Arizona) was able to score an unearned run off Jonathan Martinez (Texas State). However, Martinez buckled down and recorded the final out, capturing his 2nd save of the summer.
The Loggers will take on the Rox again tonight in St. Cloud. The first pitch is slated for 7:05pm CT at Joe Fabor Field. Fans can watch live at https://northwoodsleague.com/watch-nwl/ or listen live at https://mixlr.com/lacrosseloggers.
